Background

Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and Indian Clearing Corporation Limited (ICCL)’s booklet for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) is a key initiative towards providing foreign investors one-stop resource for accessing the Indian Capital Market. This first of its kind handbook for FPIs is released in nine international languages along with launch of the webpage for International Investors on BSE and ICCL’s website. BSE-ICCL have implemented significant initiatives related to FPIs in the last year.

Ulatus takes great pride in collaborating with BSE-ICCL in this “Ease of doing Business in India” initiative.

Challenges

The handbook was aimed at foreign portfolio investors and would serve as an epoch-making brochure in India’s endeavor to encourage foreign inflows. Hence, it was imperative to ensure high level of translation accuracy and language localization for the different regional investment communities.
The handbook had to be published on the BSE website along with the launch of a webpage for global Investors. Strict deadline adherence was crucial for this multiple language project.
Handbook included complex tables and graphs. Quality checks for typesetting and DTP for all 9 languages had to be strictly followed.
Project management had to plan, strategize and overcome any challenges considering the different service requirements plus the strict deadline of the government body for the world release of this handbook.

How Ulatus Overcame the Challenges?

Selection of the right linguistic team for all 9 languages was crucial, which was achieved through rigorous testing and selection.
A dedicated Project Manager was assigned who would coordinate with both the operations team and the client to ensure all last minute changes/updates are taken care of.
Our project management team was available 24 hours and 7 days a week for this project so that the project progressed smoothly.
DTP team worked with tools such as Adobe InDesign and Illustrator to ensure the translated handbook was formatted same as the source English handbook.
